Well, I can't believe 12 weeks have gone by so quickly. This is my final reflection for AEDT 1160. First of all, I have to reflect on the fact that my life got so busy and my courses got so busy and the amount of work coming due was so busy in November that my blogging skills became almost non-existent. With regards to social media and my initial presence on it, I was minimally active on LinkedIn and had a personal profile on Facebook which I used fairly regularly. For this course, I created a Twitter account and a separate Facebook account which did prove to be a bit frustrating at times. Sometimes people from class would try to friend me on the wrong account and I would have to decline it and try to get them to find my class one. I did it because of the privacy and level of detail I'm willing to share about my personal life with classmates versus my family and close friends. I'm not sorry that I did it that way, it was still the best option for me but it was a challenge. I most enjoyed twitter and I will continue to be active on it. I'm following some interesting people (not just from class) and I have some people following me that I was surprised about (including the halton police....hmmnnnn) LOL. Overall, I have to say I'm happy with my own participation and increased awareness of the volumes of information that are happening on concurrent social media platforms every day. It was overwhelming to be honest and I don't have time to be active on all of them at the same time. I will keep up my LinkedIn presence now that I truly appreciate the value of keeping in touch with contacts, even secondary ones. As our video's and class discussed, you never know what that far removed acquaintance might just bring you your next big opportunity. A great class and good discussions with our peers throughout. Thank you to Nadia for keeping me motivated and pushing me to do better. As always...merci :)
